Popsicle Molds and Homemade Healthy Colorful Popsicles to Make With Or For Grandchildren of All Ages

popsicleYes, the parents of our grandchildren are anti sugar everything, unless it is they who are rewarding our grandchildren with candy.  This Grandma discovered that this spring break when a grandchild was bribed with candy by a parent!  That is a grandparent’s job!  But, as is one of this Grandma’s mantras, we say nothing to the parents of our grandchildren if we have nothing good to say.  We never criticize or chastise a parent of our grandchildren.  We bite our tongues.  After all, the grandchildren will grow up fine and we are happy we do not have the responsibility of raising them.  We always want to keep the gatekeepers to our grandchildren happy with us so we have unlimited access to our grandchildren.

But warm weather is coming everywhere, and we grandmas are always looking for fun activities to do.  I really cannot remember how I ended up finding a wonderful website with ideas for popsicle molds and homemade healthy colorful popsicles, but it popped up just at the right time.

The photographs of the rainbow popsicles are beautiful.

I love that the website gives us how to make each color and we can choose our grandchildren’s favorite colors and let them go to town!

Grandma making them for baby and toddler grandchildren homemade is wonderful.  There are several recipes on the website above and there are two great recipes that parents are going to love I found on the internet.

Healthy Tropical Fruit Popsicles

3 small mangos.

1 cup of pineapple.

1 banana.

1 cup of coconut milk.

juice and pulp from 1 lime.

2 tablespoons of unsweetened shredded coconut.

honey (optional)

Healthy Fruit & Honey Yogurt Popsicles (our batch made 14 popsicles)

1 1/2 cups of plain full fat yogurt

juice of one large {room temperature, pre-rolled} orange (ours gave us about 1/2 a cup)

2 tablespoons of honey (or more, depending on desired sweetness)

2 cups of fruit, diced finely

Prepare yogurt mixture by stirring well.  Layer chopped fruit and yogurt mixture in popsicle moulds.  Freeze overnight.

Why only spring and summer?  So many grandmas have “grazers,” young grandchildren who grab food on the go.  It is impossible to get them to sit and eat.  What better to feed the grazers than a food they can take with them!  Why not a healthy snack!

Now, the first website gives examples of molds.  If you can believe, I have one Tupperware set that has lasted forty years.  After looking on Amazon, I think I will dump them as the new ones are much safer.  See these top rated ones: Popsicle Molds Set – BPA Free – 6 Ice Pop Makers + Silicone Funnel + Cleaning Brush + Ice Cream Recipes E-book

There are even the squeeze type that our grandchildren have gotten used to with Gogurt. Silicone Popsicle Molds- Set of 6 Easy to Squeeze Ice Pop Tubes- BPA Free.

This is an inexpensive activity that keeps on giving.  We can make all kinds of popsicles with our grandchildren and keep them freezer ready.

Joy,

Mema
